Technology and Career Education

     This course is designed to introduce concepts of architectural design. Throughout the semester, students will explore the fundamentals of designing residential homes, methods of construction, and building codes. Students will complete a house design of their choice using widely recognized industry standard  computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to the specifications created by the National Association of Home Builders.

Architectural Design I

This course will provide students with opportunities to explore and learn a variety of current technologies and hypothesize future ones. Students will learn promising new applications of technology along with related principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through critical thinking and problem-solving experiences. Students will discover the fundamentals of robotic systems and apply that knowledge to create solutions to real-world challenges. 

Robotics, Coding for Engineering

This Advanced Manufacturing course introduces students to modern manufacturing processes through the use of computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and CNC machining. Students will use SolidWorks to design mechanical parts and assemblies, create machining toolpaths, and manufacture projects using a Haas Desktop Mill.

Advanced Manufacturing

This course introduces students to mechanical design and the drafting process. Using Computer-Aided Drafting software, students will be introduced to basic layout, isometric and orthographic projections, section views, and dimensioning. Students will learn skills necessary to fully describe designs so that final working drawings will be sufficient to build or manufacture the design. Areas of specialization, related occupations, and postsecondary education within the STEM Career Cluster will be identified and integrated into classroom learning.  

Computer-Aided Design (CAD)

In this introductory course, students develop problem-solving skills, with emphasis placed on the concept of developing a 3-D model or solid rendering of an object through the use of a Computer-Aided Design system. Students focus on the application of visualization processes and tools to solve an engineering problem. This course will emphasize the design development process of a product and how a model of that product is produced, analyzed, and evaluated using a Computer-Aided Design System.

Intro to Engineering

Principles of Applied Robotics & Engineering I introduces students to foundational engineering, robotics, coding, IoT systems, and mechanical design. Students complete hands-on projects such as robotic prosthetics, environmental monitoring systems, reverse engineering investigations, and a Rube Goldberg machine. Emphasis is placed on the engineering design process, problem-solving, block-based programming, understanding mechanical and electronic systems, and maintaining an accurate engineering notebook. 

Principles of Applied Robotics and Engineering I

Principles of Applied Robotics & Engineering II builds on the foundational skills from PARE I and moves into advanced robotics, aerodynamics, drone systems, robotic arm programming, CAD-driven manufacturing, and sustainable engineering. Students complete hands-on projects such as wing design and quadcopter assembly, robotic arm programming, and sustainability-focused innovation work.

Principles of Applied Robotics and Engineering II

Practical Home Repair is a hands-on Career & Technical Education (CTE) course designed to teach students foundational skills for maintaining and improving a home environment. Students learn how everyday household systems work, how to troubleshoot common problems, and how to safely use essential tools. Topics include window and door hardware, basic framing, wall repair, plumbing and electrical fundamentals, airflow and weatherization, and home safety.

Students complete real-world projects such as replacing window screens, installing door hardware, repairing drywall, framing small structures, electrical wiring and circuits and installation of flooring. The course emphasizes problem-solving, safety, tool competency, accurate measurement, and independence with practical repairs that students will encounter throughout life.

Practical Home Repair

Students enrolled in this course will develop essential workplace skills while strengthening both written and interpersonal communication, including effective use of body language in professional settings. Emphasis is placed on building career readiness, professionalism, and real-world work experience. This course is designed for seniors only, and students must have transportation and a schedule that allows for a minimum of five hours of work per week.
