English Language Arts
This course builds on foundational literacy skills as students engage with a wide range of literary and informational texts. Through units focused on narrative, drama, informational science, poetry, and research, students develop their ability to read closely, think critically, and communicate effectively.
Students participate in analytical and narrative writing, collaborative discussions, research projects, and multimedia tasks. Throughout the year, they explore themes such as identity, conflict, perspective, and human behavior while strengthening their ability to use evidence and analyze complex texts.
This course supports all learners while building the reading, writing, speaking, and research skills necessary for success in Grade 8 and beyond.
Mathematics
7th Grade Math
In Grade 7, instructional time focuses on four critical areas: (1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; (2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations; (3) solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume; and (4) drawing inferences about populations based on samples.
7th Grade Accelerated Math
In Grade 7 Accelerated Math, instructional time focuses on four critical areas: (1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; (2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and formulating and reasoning about expressions and linear equations, and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations; (3) solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume, and analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance, angle, similarity, and congruence; and (4) drawing inferences about populations based on samples.
Science
This dynamic, year-long Grade 7 General Science course provides an inquiry-based introduction to key scientific concepts across Earth Science, Physical Science, and Life Science, grounded in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Students will actively engage with the Science and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts to investigate phenomena, solve problems, and understand the interconnectedness of natural systems. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, data analysis, and using evidence to construct scientific explanations.
Social Studies
This course introduces students to the ancient world while building strong historical thinking and research skills. Students learn how to ask meaningful questions, gather and evaluate information, and use evidence to understand people and events from the past. Through explorations of geography and its influence on early civilizations, learners investigate the development and achievements of East Asia, Europe, and Kingdoms of West Africa. Students strengthen their ability to analyze primary and secondary sources, make connections across time and place, and communicate their findings clearly.
Physical Education and Health
Physical Education
In P.E., students learn the importance of being active, making healthy choices, and treating others with respect. Our program focuses on healthy habits, fair play, good decision-making, and encouraging others while building foundational fitness and teamwork skills.
Health
Seventh Grade Health helps students build a strong foundation in physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Students explore the four components of wellness, set personal goals, and learn stress management skills, including relaxation, mindfulness, and the impact of social media. The course covers substance abuse prevention, including alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and marijuana, as well as disease prevention with a focus on HIV/AIDS. In the Human Growth and Development unit, students learn about puberty, hygiene, reproductive anatomy, the menstrual cycle, and abstinence.
World Language
Spanish
Spanish 1A is an introductory course. Learners will develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through practical, everyday topics such as greetings, school, activities, and basic cultural practices. Emphasis is placed on building simple conversational abilities, pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and an understanding of key grammatical structures.
French
French IA is a communicative course that introduces students to the study of a World Language through meaningful practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students learn to introduce themselves, meet new people, and exchange everyday information about school, the calendar, and their favorite activities, all while building confidence in real-life conversational exchanges. Throughout the course, students also explore French-speaking cultures and traditions to broaden their worldview and develop global citizenship.
Art
Family and Consumer Sciences
Students develop industry-relevant skills with a strong emphasis on kitchen safety, sanitation, cross-contamination prevention, and mise en place. Through a series of hands-on cooking labs, students apply their learning and engage in reflective opportunities.

Music
Music
Students experience many elements and modalities that are associated with the study of music. Topics such as Rhythm Studies, Ukulele, Blues Music, Country Music, and Rock n' Roll are covered.
Band (Winds)
This course builds upon foundational music literacy and performance skills developed in earlier grades. Students continue to expand their rhythmic literacy, instrumental technique, tone production, and ensemble musicianship. Throughout the year, students learn increasingly complex rhythmic patterns, chromatic pitches, enharmonic spellings, extended ranges, and expressive performance techniques. They apply these skills in both individual practice and full ensemble settings, preparing for performances that showcase musical growth and artistry.
Chorus
How do musicians prepare for performances? What skills are required to accurately perform vocal music? How do musicians improve the quality of their performance? Musicians prepare for performances by methodically rehearsing, evaluating, and refining technical skills over time through planned practice, feedback, reflection, and collaboration.
Percussion
This course builds upon the foundations established in earlier grades while expanding students’ technical skills across the snare drum, mallets, timpani, cymbals, drum set, and auxiliary percussion. Students develop increased rhythmic accuracy, independence, musical expression, and ensemble awareness. The curriculum emphasizes syncopation, chromatic and enharmonic understanding, rudiment development, major scale fluency, and stylistic interpretation of diverse repertoire.
Technology Education
This course builds on students’ introductory experiences in manufacturing by exploring both additive and subtractive manufacturing processes. Students develop foundational technical skills through instruction in shop safety, tool identification, precision measurement, and basic construction math. The course also reinforces key computer science concepts, including sequencing, loops, conditionals, and functions, to support effective coding practices. Students apply their learning through an introduction to robotics, following multi-step procedures to build, program, and test robotic systems using both remote-controlled and autonomous operations.
School Counseling
The 7th grade counseling curriculum helps students develop the decision-making and self-management skills needed to navigate increasing academic, social, and personal responsibilities. Through lessons focused on thoughtful decision-making, self-control, and evaluating consequences, students learn how their choices affect both themselves and others.
Students practice using strategies to pause, think through options, and make responsible decisions in real-life situations. By the end of 7th grade, students will have a stronger understanding of how to make positive choices, manage challenges, and build healthy relationships both in and out of school.
