Curriculum Newsletter

Hello Suffield Families,

I hope this communication finds everyone well as we welcome in the summer months. In addition to the core academic content area newsletters attached, please note that for the 2017-2018 school year, we will be making slight changes to our report card format to provide more direct and clear feedback to parents. The changes were a result of consultation with students, parents, and teachers at all levels. Additionally, this work was directly aligned to the District Improvement Plan (see Short Term Strategy #10 Revise grading practices and policies). Key points are below and will be further communicated at the start of the school year.

Secondary – changes are limited to the comments section. Teachers will have the ability to select strengths and growth areas from a pull-down menu that provide more direct feedback to parents on the core value expectations of responsibility, respect, integrity, and creativity. Teachers will also maintain the ability to provide written narrative in the comments section.

Elementary – report cards at AWS and MIS have been reviewed and modified to provide the same format.
