| | | To: | Suffield Families | | From: | Suffield Board of Education | | RE: | Special BOE Meeting - Early Release | | Date: | January 20, 2017 | Dear Suffield Families, On Feb. 6, Administrators will present a proposal to the Board of Education regarding potential changes to our current schedule in order to provide additional collaborative time and professional development opportunities for our teachers. The Board is grateful for the Early Release Committee comprised of teachers, administrators and parents, the active public engagement, and the important feedback from all stakeholders during the past months and it’s impact on the committee forming the recommendations. The Board recognizes that our current policy on Public Comment at BOE meetings may not provide the necessary time to accommodate all members of the community that may want to speak to the Board on this proposal and have their feedback shared in the public sphere. In order to ensure all interested have the opportunity to speak, the Board has planned a special board meeting for Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Suffield High School Library Media Center. This meeting will consist only of a dedicated, extended Public Comment on the Early Release Proposal. We are looking forward to hearing this important feedback from the community.
