This is also the fifth year in a row it has been a sixth grader. Approximately 14,000 students from sixth and eighth grade participated in the challenge. This consisted of an hour-long examination with questions in the disciplines of math, science, language, history and geography. This contest is designed to stimulate students’ interest in learning by incorporating general knowledge, logic, and problem solving skills. This year sixth grader Emily Brydges achieved a score of 78, besting all her competitors in the state. Congratulations Emily! | By: Mrs. Myers, PROMISE Advisor The 8th grade PROMISE girls took a journey to North Truro, Massachusetts on May 7, 2016. Their purpose: to stay overnight at the Race Point Lighthouse near Provincetown, Cape Cod to experience history and help with the preservation of history. The lighthouse hosts were Mr. and Mrs. DeFord and the girls stayed at the keeper house from Saturday to Sunday, May 8th. Part of their adventure included a tour of the Provincetown area and then a “dune buggy” ride out to the lighthouse on the beach. There was a historical tour of the lighthouse and surrounding area and team building activities on the beach. Thank you to Mr. Joyal for the long ride up and back in the van! | |
| Dear Families, It has been a year with much excitement as we rolled out our Chromebooks in September. These tools have proved to have a positive impact on our learning environment and we hope that they can stand the test of time. With that in mind we will start "spot checking" Chromebooks to get the ball rolling on any repairs that may need to happen now to prepare for our collection at the end of the year. Teachers will be sending students to our Junior S.W.A.T. team if they feel there is anything that needs to be addressed on their device. We also ask that you take a minute at home to check in on your child's device and its condition. As a reminder the insurance and coverage letter is posted to our Suffield Public School website. This will be a helpful guide as you look over the device. Here are important dates to remember for Chromebook collection: April 25 – June 10 | Spot Checks of Chromebooks | June 9 and 10 | Teachers will collect students Chromebooks and chargers (students will keep their cases for the following year) | June 14 | All payments are due | It is important that this timeline is met so that we can efficiently repair, maintain, and reissue Chromebooks next fall. We thank you in advance for your partnership with this exciting initiative. Overall it has been a positive experience and we look forward to continuing to provide devices to our students to enhance their educational experience here at Suffield Middle School. Respectfully Yours, Ashley Molden Assistant Principal Suffield Middle School Letter - PDF | |
