PTAC Mini Grants
The SMS PTAC awarded six $500 mini grants to six well deserving Middle School teachers in October. Joy Tierney, Kristen Zavisza, and Shannon Picard’s grant requests were to be able to make a comfortable area within their classrooms for students to sit and read; Lisa DeFord’s request was for stand alone desks; Librarian Dan Spada requested $500 for new books; Carol Sewall speech & language pathologists request was to purchase Wildcat Cards greeting card kit to be used by teachers from Unified Arts, Special Education, and Speech/Language to develop a program that supports student’s vocational, functional, and academic needs through the use of interactive and kinesthetic learning activities. Through creative and craft activities identified special needs students would create greeting cards that would be sold to the school community to help continue to fund the future costs of the program. Great ideas from great teachers!
