UNIFIED THEATRE PRODUCTION 2015 Unified Theater Camp * Grades 8-12 * August 3 - 14 | | | WE got spirit yes we do we, we got spirit how about YOU??? | All month the students at Suffield Middle School have been making donations and dressing up to show their school enthusiasm. We kicked off the month with a food drive where we collected almost 1500 non-perishable items. Next was the grade vs. grade change challenge. Students brought in coins to bring their count up and dollars to bring the other grades’ count down. But in the end Student Council raised $4,436.00 to be divided among 40 different charities of the students’ choice. Throughout the month we also had different theme days and the students of SMS rose to the occasion! There was blue and white day where students wore their favorite Suffield colors. It was so great to see SMS at its best! Next was U.S.A day. Salute to the red, white, and blue. We had patriotic pants, shirts, socks, headbands to even onesies. We have never looked so good! United we stand! Then came the fashion disaster! This was the day to master your fashion. Who dares to not match? Creative combos of polka dots, checkers, stripes, flowers, and plaid. This was a day to be reckoned with! We completed spirit month with twin day. Senora Messmer's class was completely donned in black shirts and jeans. We ended Friday with a pep rally that was as loud as can be. Teachers were introduced while they threw t-shirts to lucky fans and the student players ran in with fans cheering. Let the games begin!!! Beach balls were balling, music was playing, and the band was bashing. The best of the best had to be the screaming contest. The auditorium shook! Our hosts Chritian Laursen and Liam Duffy did an amazing job getting all grades riled up. The entire school was screaming until they could scream no more! What school spirit!!! | Student/Faculty Basketball Game | After all of this spirit, game night finally arrived. The bleachers were packed. The basketball game was intense. The SMS student team stayed close with the teachers the whole game. The students were only down by 3. Time was ticking and Matt Yahne hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer to tie things up. Way to go Student team! A great game ended in a tie! The PTAC held a shooting contest during half time. The first place prize was $500, which was generously donated by The First National Bank of Suffield. Who had the hot hand? 7th grader Gage Watroba swished his way to the prize! Congratulations to Gage! What a night! So much fun was had by all! | | |
On Monday, March 16th, the PROMISE girls took a walk down Mountain Road to the Second Chance Shop in Suffield. Their mission was to help out with the inventory and setting up the spring clothing line in the store. The girls met with the President of the Second Chance Shop Auxiliary, Mrs. Sharen Lingenfelter, and she explained how the shop operates and that the proceeds from the sale of the clothing is donated to the Village for Families and Children in Hartford. The adult volunteer staff at the shop were amazed at how well and quickly the girls worked during the time they were there. It was a beautiful day to walk and a great time for the PROMISE girls.
