(b) Student Dismissal Precautions
It is necessary that students be in attendance throughout the school day in order to benefit fully from the educational program of the district. The Board of Education recognizes, however, that on occasion, compelling circumstances will require that a student be late to school or dismissed before the end of the day. Each building principal will establish procedures to validate early dismissals to assure that students are excused for proper reasons and released only to authorized individuals.
Parents are urged to make appointments for their children after school hours. If a request for dismissal is necessary, generally children will be dismissed with advanced written request by the parent or guardian including the date and time of release and will only be released in the care of the parent or guardian, unless otherwise noted. Children will be released with a telephone call when the caller can be positively identified as the students’ parent of guardian. Any parent, guardian or individual with custodial parental permission must be able to verify their identification prior to leaving with the student.
A student may be released to either parent unless a custodial parent supplies the Building Principal with a certified copy of a court order or divorce decree to the contrary.
