Series 5000 - Students

1.   Elementary and Secondary

A.  Attendance

(22) Transfers/Withdrawals

The Suffield Board of Education strongly urges Suffield Public School employees, parents, peers and citizens to exert influence to keep students in school until they receive a high school diploma.

All staff should endeavor to recognize potential dropouts and do everything possible to give necessary help to such students. An intervention model will be in place to insure student retention.  We recognize and encourage the need for parental involvement in this process.

However, students who are 16 years of age, who have parent/guardian written approval, may withdraw from school. A parent/guardian must appear with the student to withdraw the student from school At the time of withdrawal, the student will be informed of his or her right to be readmitted to school upon request by the student.
