A Welcome Message

Welcome to the Suffield Public Schools website. Our website is designed to provide the most current information about our schools and to improve our communication to parents, students, staff and the community. Check our site often as we add and update information to ensure effective communication regarding our schools and programs.

The teachers, support staff and administrators of the Suffield Public Schools are committed to creating a safe, nurturing and challenging educational environment; one in which each child feels connected. Our district has four strategic goals which we address on an ongoing basis. These goals include: improving communication, maintaining class sizes (student /teacher ratios) that are conducive to educational excellence, utilizing technology as a tool for facilitating learning and communication, and balancing an accountability driven testing culture with our local educational values and beliefs. Our budgets are strategic, responsive and supportive of those district goals. Click here to continue reading....

Superintendent Search - UPDATE

The Board of Education, after careful review, has offered to extend the interim superintendent position to Dr. Mary Greenlaw-Dixon until 6/30/2011. This will allow the district to step back and take an unrushed look for a new superintendent. The extension of the appointment will be on the Board of Education agenda for the March 16th meeting. For the next budget year, the position of Director of Curriculum, formerly held by Mary Greenlaw-Dixon, will be eliminated. The savings from the loss of this position will be used to fund a consultant to study our district's processes and operations and make recommendations as to how the district can operate more efficiently. This introspection will be a team approach, and Mary will be leading the district during this integral time. A full search for a new superintendent will be conducted next year starting early in the recruiting season rather than rushing the process as we would have had to do this year.
