To the Suffield Public Schools Community,
We are greatly saddened by the early morning accident on August 25th which claimed the life of incoming senior, Alexa Crosby, and injured recent graduates, Amanda Conway and Ann Bauchiero. Our community has suffered a great loss and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Alexa Crosby.
When we were informed of the accident, we immediately mobilized our Crisis Intervention Team and our resource staff. Grief counseling will be available at the high school, and counselors are available all day today, August 25th, and tomorrow , August 26th until 8 pm.
Alexa was a caring and sweet individual who worked hard and had planned on graduating mid-year in order to pursue a career in nursing. She was respected by teachers and students alike. Alexa managed the tennis team, was a member of the dance team and will be greatly missed by the whole school community.
We will be setting up a temporary memorial in the courtyard at Suffield High School for our students who wish to gather in remembrance of Alexa. It is our desire to give our students and community members a safe place to grieve.
Our hopes and prayers go out to Ann and Amanda for a full and speedy recovery from their injuries.
Sincerely,
Mary Greenlaw-Dixon, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent of Schools
